Today marks one month until I leave for Alicante, Spain for the spring semester.
I decided to start this blog mainly as a fun way to keep track of this adventure for myself. Whenever I've gone on long trips, I've kept a journal and going back to it months, or years later, I always get reminded of something great I had forgotten. So this time I decided to now do a blog instead.
My second reason for doing this is so my family and friends can see what I'm up to. My guess is that my Aunt Brenda will look at this from time to time, my sister never will, my Grandma might, and a few of my facebook friends will if they're bored.
My third reason is that maybe someone will be inspired by this blog. When I left Cortland
my freshman year to come back home, I pretty much gave up on the idea of going abroad. I thought it was too much for me to handle. Honestly, even 6 months ago I thought this was
too much for me to handle. Yet, here I am.
I was inspired by my friend Ashley to not let my anxiety get the best of me, and to finally do
something out of my comfort zone. There is an entire world to explore and I'm done being held back. Life is what you make it and no one is in charge of your happiness but you.
-I'm going through a program called USAC,
not through Purchase, honestly only because I wanted to be on the beach and they only offered Madrid.
-Alicante is a few hours south of Barcelona, on the coast.
-I don't know one other person going.
-I'm only taking Spanish courses, because I mean, it makes sense. Plus, I will then have a minor in Spanish when I get back.
-If I love it, I'm staying, but if I'm ready to come home when my courses end, I'll come home. Basically my return date is TBD.
